This is a short deviation from ideal wedding love, to real life, everyday love..

If you know us in the real world, then you know for the last few holidays and vacations we’ve spent them in one form or another in ER. For a quick review….

June 2003 on vacation in SLO dating Troy, I had a systemic allergic reaction to Advil 1st trip to MedStop in SLO
August 2003 on vacation in Southern Oregon, Troy was meeting my family at a family reunion, got a spider bit on his forehead and it become infected, one side of his face swelled up and he ended up in urgent care.

**** got married and had many great urgent care free years!*****

Oct 2008 on vacation in Grand Canyon when we get a phone call that Troy’s Dad is in the hospital in San Diego, spend two weeks with him at Kaiser. Troy’s parents come to live with us in SLO for 6 weeks.
Nov 2008 Thanksgiving week (Troy’s parents still living with us..) a few hours before Troy and I are due for an overnight getaway Troy’s Dad ends up in MedStop (visit #2) and then the hospital for a blood transfusion. He spent Thanksgiving week at Sierra Vista Hospital. FYI- Troy’s Dad today is much better and living down in SoCal again!
Dec 2008 Christmas- eating Christmas dinner with my family in Northern California, my uncle had a TIA (transitory ischemic attack) at the dinner table and we all needed up in ER (Mercy visit #1) My uncle staying overnight in the hospital, and today is doing very well.

**** met Emma & we officially adopted her the week of Thanksgiving 2009 ****

Nov 2009- Day after Thanksgiving, 4 days after Emma is officially ours, she had a series of Fibrial seizures we end up back in ER (Mercy visit #2) she stays overnight.
Dec 2009 Christmas- Emma gets the stomach flu, projectile vomiting the night before we are due to travel to Troy’s family for Christmas.. we stay home.

So, yesterday a few days before we are due to travel for another family reunion with my family, you guessed it. Troy ended up tripping/falling/ tumbling on his lunchtime hill run, MedStop visit #3, ended up with 6 stitches in his knee and lots of bruises.

Moral of the story, don’t spend vacations, or holidays with us… you’ll end up touring local hospitals . We’ve been thinking about writing a hospital/ ER patient review book, rating the quality of beds, pillows, staff, if they have wi-fi, food options, test result turn around timse etc. etc.
I’ll spare you the yucky pics of Troy’s knee.. but here is an old picture of us hours before his spider bit!
