California weddings are all about taking advantage of the great weather and natural beauty. Outdoor events and venues are extremely popular, on the beach or under great, old oak trees. In many places in California from April to October you can likely get sunny, clear gorgeous days. Make sure to ask locals about typical weather patterns. In some spots along the California coast it can be foggy during summer months (June gloom), while other places can be extremely hot. The Bay Area and southern coastal areas are the most temperate year round.
Causal California style is filled with strappy shoes, flowing sundresses, relaxed, natural floral arrangements, rustic barns, fresh fusion food, wide open spaces, and lots of sunshine. Wedding styles and events are locally influenced by wineries, ranches, farms, and even historic California missions. It’s a part of the country where no one wears nylons, or hats or gloves. If you look closely at guests in the background, they also are dressed quite causally. Nothing feels cramped or crowded. Don’t forget to get outside, use the abundant natural lighting, which is every photographers dream. Here are a few images that remind me of great California style weddings!

Happy Monday!! One of the best parts of weddings, is the people you choose to share your day with. Choosing your bridal party can sometimes turn very political.. do you ask your future sister-in-laws? What about long lost cousin so-in-so? Do you have three friends or ten? What will the group dynamics be like? Does everyone wear the same dress or pick out their own? You can see the potential drama!! Make sure YOUR wishes are known, choose dear friends that will help and not hinder. Make sure your expectations are expressed in advance. If you had your heart set on everyone coming a few days before the wedding, make sure that is known. Fancy wedding or not, this is the one day of your life where millions of pictures will be taken, so if you want that wild college girlfriend to cover up her tattoos, don’t wait til the day of to talk about it! Everyone should know when and where you want them, what they are wearing, down to the shoes, jewelry and hair. Most bridesmaids want lots of notice if you expect them to give a toast at the reception. Don’t forget to thank them for the showers they throw, the DIY projects they help with and the traveling they often do for you. From hand writing your place cards to decorating for your rehearsal dinner, bridesmaids can be a wonderful asset. Most of our precious friends love to be included, so delegate tasks which are their strengths! Here is some bridesmaid fashion to inspire you this week!!!

In the middle of the Indian Ocean is an ultra private island resort on the island Seychelles. North Island in Seychelles is the ultimate honeymoon location. Just looking at the beautiful images I’d love to unplug on that beach! It’s truly an all inclusive resort that boasts of “barefoot luxury”! I love the magic by full privacy and the absence of people. Imagine a wide, unspoiled, sandy beach, with beautiful boulders, all yours, without even the trace of footsteps. Dreaming of getting away… enjoy your weekend! b

Today I’m happy to share a project hot off the press! This chic, simple design was created by Tyler, a graphic artist we love to work with. This simple, one color design uses the bride and groom’s first names for a cool monogram. Tyler loves to design great envelopes and this project had the monogram (front) along with the wedding date (back flap).
We letterpress printed both the invitations and envelopes. Are you a graphic designer looking for print only services? E-mail me for a print quote. We offer custom duplex papers, unlimited Pantone colored inks and custom die cutting!

photography by Jose VillaI have to admit I love garden weddings.. yes, my wedding was in a garden. I guess I just love the natural beauty and the fact that I don’t have to maintain, plan or organize that beauty!!(Wedding planning already has way too much of that already.) You don’t even have to use a “formal” garden, you can choose a venue that has rolling green hills, great oak trees or a courtyard with a bit greenery for you to work with. Spring would be the best time to have this type of wedding as beautiful flowers will be blooming! Find out what type of flowers are expected to be growing in the garden around that time of year. Beyond official English, traditional or Japanese gardens, remember there are beautiful parks, orchards, and flower farms that often host weddings and events. Let nature work for you:-) Happy Monday.. we are finally getting over our winter colds!!!
seed packets with place setting via Inspired RoomI’d love to relaxing around this pool and staying in this below room:-) Aaaahhh Happy Friday! We can all dream right?!!

This classic combination shouts elegant, classy and timeless. It’s prefect for winter weddings and with a lighter red, a bright rich palette for the summer. I love the tented look below. When hot orange and neon green are faux pas, this color trio will be as popular as ever!!!
